Bill reminders that come from your receipts — and when you'll want them

Some bills you never think about because they're on auto-debit. The ones that catch people here are the leftovers — the ones you pay yourself through GCash, an app, or over the counter: condo dues, a Meralco bill that lands on a slightly different day each month, Maynilad or Manila Water, Converge or PLDT, a postpaid plan, a yearly domain renewal, voluntary SSS or Pag-IBIG contributions.

Miss one and it's a surcharge, a disconnection plus a reconnection fee, or a gap in your contributions — for something you fully intended to pay.

Resiboo has a Reminders feature that helps with exactly this category of bill, and it works from receipts you've already scanned rather than a bills list you have to build.

When automatic bill reminders actually help

A few situations where this earns its keep:

• Bills you pay manually. Auto-debit isn't the default here — a lot of households pay every bill by hand through GCash, Maya, online banking, or a bayad center. Every one of those is a due date you have to remember.
• Irregular due dates. Meralco and water bills follow a reading cycle, not a fixed calendar day, so "the 15th" never quite sticks.
• Long gaps between payments. Quarterly and annual bills — insurance, associations, domains, voluntary government contributions — are the easiest to forget because they're rare. There's no habit to lean on.
• Right after a move. New condo or apartment, new Meralco and water accounts, a billing rhythm you haven't learned yet. This is when things slip.
• Freelance and side-business costs. Recurring software, a co-working membership, quarterly tax set-asides — bills that also matter at BIR time and are worth not missing.

If every bill you have is on auto-debit and lands the same day each month, you probably don't need this. For everyone else, there's usually a handful of bills living rent-free in the back of your mind.

How Resiboo builds the reminder

Reminders sits behind the bell icon on the Home screen. Bill reminders get suggested two ways.

Recurring-merchant detection. Once you've logged the same merchant three or more times, Resiboo looks at the spacing between those receipts. If it's roughly weekly — about every 6 to 8 days — or roughly monthly — about every 25 to 35 days — it proposes a reminder on that schedule. Spending that doesn't follow a pattern is left alone; Resiboo doesn't guess at irregular purchases.

Bill-like receipts. Open a receipt filed under Utilities, Subscriptions, Insurance, Rent, Phone, Internet, or Membership and you'll see a "Set a reminder for this" prompt on the receipt itself.

One tap to confirm. Suggestions collect in a Suggested list. Accept one — or tap the prompt on a receipt — and a reminder form opens already filled in: title from the merchant, a sensible due date, monthly repeat by default. You can change the title, notes, due date and time, and the repeat (None, Weekly, or Monthly), then Save. Nothing is scheduled until you confirm. A suggestion is only ever a suggestion.

There's also a separate, optional toggle for a gentle daily nudge to scan the day's receipts, at a time you choose — unrelated to bills, off unless you turn it on.

Once reminders exist, an Upcoming and Sent view keeps them together. Swipe to complete or delete, tap to edit.

Private, and it works offline

Reminders are local notifications on your own device. No account, no server, nothing about your bills sent anywhere. Recurring reminders keep firing on schedule even with no signal or data. Notification permission is asked once, the first time you save a reminder — there's no permissions wall when you open the app.

Trying it

Tap the bell on the Home screen. If you've been scanning receipts for a while, there may already be suggestions waiting. If not, keep capturing your bills as they come in — the Meralco statement, the internet bill, the condo dues receipt — and the suggestions appear once the pattern is clear. You can always open a bill-like receipt and set one directly.

What it isn't

This is a "this bill is coming up" nudge tied to a merchant. It doesn't pay bills, it isn't auto-debit, it doesn't read due dates from the biller, and it isn't a budgeting feature. Resiboo stays a capture-and-record app — Reminders just puts the records you already keep to one more use.
